# Surface Mining

Perhaps the most profitable and predictable form of mining in the universe.

To begin, simply fly to a planet where surface mining is permitted and initiate the landing sequence. **Each descent consumes a significant amount of your ship's precious fuel.**

Players with mining equipment stored on their ship can descend to planets and deploy their rigs for surface operations.

Each planet features a unique set of **biomes**. Every biome has its own **resource odds**, influencing the yield of different material types. Some biomes are richer in **Gems Shards** or **Metal Chunks**, while others may provide more **Gas Particles** or **Organic Cells**.

Mining equipment, while capable of extracting all four resource types, often specializes in one. This allows you to strategically choose a biome and deploy a specialized rig to maximize the output of your desired resource. By analyzing biome data and equipment specs, a savvy miner can accurately forecast their income from surface operations.
